Crappiest Fair Ever (rant)

Guess what? I'm MAD! I heard there was a short story competition and I thought I could whip something up in a few days. It was pretty good too.
Now my idea of a short story is a 3 to 6 page story. Apparently their idea of a short story is something that can be put in a single frame.
Last year they were pathetically narrow minded when it came to abstract art and put my artwork in the same level where there was a horse that looked like its mother was a pig. Now they are shoving limitations in the area where I seem to be the most talented. CREATIVE WRITING.
I'm personally ready to boycott the fair at this point. Of course I'm ticked off and no one would really care that I skipped the fair, so I'm basically just a speck of dust that thinks differently than the rest of the specks of dust in this smaller than a speck of dust town. Yes I know that did not make sense.
I officailly hate this town. I'm the most Liberal thinker in this town and the tragic thing is I don't like Liberal thinking.
It is so irritating that they can't allow a real story to be submitted. NO! IT MUST BE THE SIZE OF A POEM! I BET THE JUDGES DON'T EVEN LIKE POETRY!

Don't be discouraged. It does take quite a while to build a dA audience, much longer than an ff.n one (usually. there are exceptions in both cases. And I never really had an audience at ffn, but then, I only had one fic posted :shrug: ). And dA is a more active and involved website then ffn is. Because of the way ffn is arranged (with most recent things at the top of the display), you can just post stuff and people see it and there's a really good chance that somebody looking for something in that category with those characters, ect, will read it. Here they display the most popular things first, and things spread much more by word of mouth (as it were, via fave pages, ect), and you have to deal with all the key words and such, and you have to be way more active about getting your stuff out there where people can find it. What I've found to be the best method for getting stuff noticed is to A) Comment on other people's stuff a lot. This makes people more likely to look at your stuff in return. They don't always, but sometimes they do. Also, you can make friends this way, which is good in and of itself, and friends are more likely to read each other's stuff, and thus fave it, and thus spread it. And B) And I cannot stress this enough JOIN CLUBS! Find a club that specializes in whatever you write about/ are generally into, join it and submit your stuff too the club because they then distribute your submission to their members, which is extremely helpful in building a dA audience.

Anyway, I hope that was helpful.

And I'm really sorry that I don't have time to read your stuff right now, but I promise I'll do it eventually (after midterms, when I'm sane again).
